Hawks Stay Undefeated At Home, Pick Up Second Straight GLVC Win

QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's basketball team kept their perfect home record intact Saturday afternoon (Jan. 11) against Missouri S&T. The Hawks defeated the Miners 88-81 to move to 7-0 in Pepsi Arena on the season.

How It Happened
Tanner Stuckman had 28 points and made three 3-pointers to lead the Hawks on Saturday, helping Quincy improve to 2-3 in league play. 

Charles Callier tied a career high with his second consecutive 19-point game, logging 38 minutes in the contest. 

There were 9 lead changes in the game, but the Hawks sealed it at the end with quality free throw shooting. 

Guards Austin Downing and Ryan Briscoe were both perfect from the foul line, and the Hawks shot an efficient 19-for-23 from the charity stripe. 

There was no separation from the Hawks and Miners in the first half as neither team led by more than two possessions. 

The Hawks led 39-34 to open the second half, and a 3-pointer by Tanner Stuckman extended the Hawks lead to 10 points just 47 seconds into the half. 

Quincy pushed their lead to 14 points when Viktor Kovacevic made a layup with 12:41 to go in the half. 

The Miners cut the deficit to four points with 56 seconds to go with a fast break 3-pointer by CJ Hedgepeth. 

The Hawks made their final six foul shots, and converted 17 of 19 shots at the foul line in the second half to finish off the victory.
