Hat Trick by Aubrey Reis Fuels 5-0 Win at William Jewell

LIBERTY, MO. – The Quincy University men's soccer team got three goals from midfielder Aubrey Reis in a 5-0 win over William Jewell on Friday night (Sept. 20).

1st Half
The Hawks looked sharp early in Friday night's GLVC match up with the Cardinals. After three shots were missed in the first three minutes by Jewell, QU countered with a pair of shots. Alsadiq Hasan and Cooper Reis were unable to hit their mark.

In the 9th minute, the Hawks had a corner kick. Cooper Reis delivered a high driving kick to the far post where Justin Armfield waited. Armfield headed the ball in for his second goal of the season. QU led 1-0.

A minute later, QU looked to strike again, but Aubrey Reis' shot on goal was saved by the William Jewell goalkeeper. In the 13th minute, Anthony Christante got off a shot, but his attempt hit the crossbar as the score remained 1-0.

The persistence of the Hawks front line paid off again in the 16th minute. Alsadiq Hasan found a streaking Aubrey Reis who put a shot in the net for his first goal of the 2019 season. Quincy held a 2-0 lead.

As good as the Hawks offense was in the first half, the back line played just as well. Quincy allowed just one shot on goal in the first half giving them a 2-0 advantage going into halftime.

2nd Half
QU continued with a relentless attack coupled with firm defensive play in the last forty-five minutes. Offensive speed created an early scoring opportunity.

Cooper Reis launched a shot towards the net in the 58th minute, but he was turned away. A minute later, Spencer Van Nest found Aubrey Reis in the middle of the box.

Reis made the most of the cross by putting his shot in the back of the net for his second goal of the game. QU went ahead 3-0 in the 60th minute.

In the 79th minute, the redshirt junior capped off his night in theatrical fashion. The Hawks were awarded a free kick from the top circle of the goalie box. Reis approached and launched a left-footed shot on goal. With a left to right bend, the ball found the upper left corner of the net for Reis' third goal of the night.

This was Aubrey Reis' second hat trick in as many years. The Quincy native scored three times last season on September 23rd against Truman State in a 4-0 win.

Quincy's offense was not finished for the night. Redshirt freshman Craig Chisholm scored his first goal of the 2019 season after an assist from Anthony Binaei in the 81st minute. The Hawks were firmly in control with a 5-0 lead.

QU's defense also kept the pressure off goalkeeper Adam Whybrow. The senior faced just two shots on goal over the course of the game.
