Quincy 3, Purdue Northwest 2

The Hawks offense erupted in the first set with 18 kills. Baylie Stephens, Emily Rehagen and Sarah Brown each notched four to lead the way. Both teams were evenly matched early on, with neither leading by more than three points until the Pride went on a five-point run to push their lead to six. Down 24-18, the Hawks came soaring back. Two kills from Brown and a service ace from Makayla Knoblauch sparked a 6-0 run to tie the score. QU used the momentum to take the final three points and a 28-26 first set win.

The second set started much like the first, as the score sat at 12-12 midway through. The Pride won the next four points to go up 16-12. A kill from Brown cut the lead to three, but that is as close as the Hawks would get. Purdue Northwest pulled away and took the second set 25-19 to even the match.

The QU attack continued to stay hot in the third. Sarah Brown notched five kills as the Hawks totaled fourteen. Quincy jumped out to a 15-10 lead, but the Pride did not go down quietly. Purdue Northwest came all the way back to take a 20-19 lead. The Hawks took control after that. Back-to-back kills and a Sara Rathbun service ace led to a four-point run and a 23-19 lead. The Hawks would not surrender the rest of the way, winning the third 25-23.

As the Hawks looked to close out the match and the Pride fought to prolong it, the fourth set pushed the competition to the next level. The set saw 14 ties and four lead changes. Two kills from Stephens and Emma Lynch, and an attack error from Purdue Northwest, gave QU their first lead at 12-11. The Pride came back late in the set and looked to close it out up 24-22. Emily Rehagen and the Hawks made it a hard task as the freshman's two kills put Quincy up 25-24. The Pride responded by tallying two kills and a service ace to take the fourth set.

Falling in five sets during the last two matches, the Hawks did not let it happen again. QU jumped out to a 10-3 lead and never looked back. Quincy won the decisive set 15-10 to clinch their first win of the season.

(RV) Upper Iowa 3, Quincy 0

QU grabbed an early 2-1 lead after two kills from Sarah Brown in the opening set. Both teams traded points until Upper Iowa went on a four-point run to take a 9-5 lead. The Hawks fought back and cut it to one at 12-11. The Peacocks took over after that and took the first set 25-19.

Upper Iowa went on a 6-0 run to start the second set, and went on to build their largest lead at 16-5 following another six-point spurt. The Hawks battled, using a service ace from Alaina Rothermich and a kill from Emily Rehagen to cut the lead to six, but the Peacock lead was too much. Upper Iowa took a 2-0 lead after winning the second set 25-17.

The Peacocks held a three-point lead early in the third set, but Quincy tied it at 10-10 after Brown and Stephanie Mizeur hammered back-to-back kills. Upper Iowa went on to take nine of the next 12 points to take control 19-13. QU was unable to overcome the deficit as the Peacocks won the set 25-17.
