ST. LOUIS, Mo. –The men's and women's tennis teams could not overcome the Maryville Saints in GLVC tennis action on Friday, April 5th. Both teams fell 6-1 in the road contest.
Men's
The Hawks swept doubles action on the men's side. The pairing of
Collin Adams and
Patrick Anderson swept their match 6-0.
Brenden Everhart and
Erik Weiler defeated their opponent in doubles 6-4, and
Dane Mechali paired with
Samuele Contestabile won a tight match 7-6. The trio of doubles victories gave QU their lone point of the match.
The Saints turned things around by sweeping the singles matches.
Collin Adams dropped a competitive game 7-5, 6-2 to lead off singles action.
Dane Mechali and
Erik Weiler fell 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-3 respectively.
Samuele Contestabile dropped his match 6-2, 6-2. Freshman,
Brenden Everhart, also fell 6-3, 6-1, and
Patrick Anderson fell to Fernando Orea 6-1, 6-2.

Women's
On the women's side, the Lady Hawks were swept in doubles to fall behind 1-0.
Rita Kanaeva and Makaela Hamton both fell in the #1 and #2 matches, and
Nicole Lao dropped her match 6-1, 6-4.
In the #4 singles match, Marta Caballero-Garcia won a gritty three-set match 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 to get QU on the board.
Anna Konczak fell 6-2, 6-1 in the #5 spot, and
Abby Moore took her match to three sets. Moore almost mounted a comeback but lost 1-6, 7-5, 7-10.
