Box Score 2 FULTON, Mo. - The Quincy University softball team swept Westminster College Thursday (April 25) in a midweek non-conference doubleheader. The Hawks defeated the Blue Jays 6-0 in game one before completing the two-game shutout with a 4-0 victory in game two.

Game 1
QU jumped out to an early lead in the opening inning.
Remi Ferguson reached base on an error by the shortstop.
Megan Sharpshair scored Ferguson with an RBI hit by pitch to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.
The Hawks added to the lead in the top of the second.
Courtney Kernich reached base on a bunting single and Ferguson followed by drawing a walk.
Morgan Heckman plated both runners with a two RBI double to center field to make the score 3-0.
Kylie Powers kept things rolling by leading off the fourth inning with a solo home run to extend QU's lead to 4-0.
Mac Kenzie Collier shut down the Blue Jays offense from the start. The sophomore from Custer Park, Illinois threw five scoreless innings, only allowing six hits and striking out three.
Morgan Heckman continued to swing the bat well in the top of the sixth inning. The senior left fielder ripped a two-run home run to increase the Hawks lead to 6-0.
Alex DeVaney came in to relieve Collier in the bottom of the sixth inning and completed the shut out, only allowing two hits and striking out one.
The Hawks took game one 6-0.
Game 2
The Hawks started off on the right foot in the second game of the day.
Morgan Heckman launched her 10
th home run of the season, and second of the day, in the top of the first inning to give QU a 1-0 lead.
The visiting team struck again the top of the fourth. Heckman drew a walk to lead off the inning.
Katelyn Gratza came in to pinch-run and quickly stole second.
Kylie Powers later scored Gratza with an RBI fielder's choice to extend the lead to 2-0.
Alex DeVaney came back to pitch in game two and kept the Blue Jays off balance early on, only allowing three hits through four innings. No Westminster player made it past first base in the first four innings as DeVaney held the home team scoreless.
QU doubled their lead in the top of fifth.
Remi Ferguson drew a two-out walk and quickly advanced to third after two wild pitches. The sophomore catcher scored on an error by the shortstop to put the Hawks up 3-0.
Powers later recorded her second RBI of the game with a double to left field to make the score 4-0.
The senior right-hander from Sherman, Illinois returned to the circle and did not give up a hit in the final two innings as the Hawks completed the sweep.
