SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Quincy University tennis program traveled to Drury University on Saturday (April 13th). The Hawks were swept in both men's and women's action.
Women's
The Quincy women's tennis team fell at the hands of #21 ranked Drury.
Rita Kanaeva fell 6-3, 6-0 in #1 singles, and
Makaela Hampton dropped her #2 match 6-3, 6-2.
Nicole Lao dropped the #3 match 6-2, 6-0, and Marta Caballero-Garcia was swept 6-0, 6-0.
Both
Anna Konczak and teammate
Haley Milazzo fell 6-1, 6-0 to round out singles competition.
In doubles, the Panthers won all three pairings 6-3, 6-2, and 6-1.
The women will compete at home tomorrow against Wartburg College at 12 p.m.
Men's
In singles action,
Samuele Contestabile competed in the #1 spot but fell 6-1, 6-1. In the #2 single's match,
Erik Weiler dropped the first set 6-0 and lost in a tough second set 7-5.
Brenden Everhart lost 6-2, 6-4 in the #3 spot, and
Dane Mechali took his match to three sets. Mechali fell 6-4 in the opening set but won 6-3 in set two. His opponent won the decisive third set 10-3.
Patrick Anderson and
Collin Adams competed in the #5 and #6 spots. Anderson fell 6-0, 6-2 while Adams dropped his match 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles, the Panthers won all three pairings 6-2 to complete the sweep.
