QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's and women's tennis teams picked up a pair of wins against Lewis & Clark Community College on Friday (April 12). The men won in a clean sweep 9-0, while the women defeated the Trailblazers 6-3.
Men's
The Hawks only dropped one game in doubles action.
Brenden Everhart and
Erik Weiler defeated their opponents 6-1 at No.1 doubles.
The pairings of
Samuele Contestabile and
Dane Mechali, along with
Patrick Anderson and
Collin Adams, both swept 6-0 to give QU a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.
Contestabile and Weiler earned 6-0, 6-1 victories at No.1 and No.3 singles, respectively. Â
Everhart played a solid match at the No.2 spot, winning by a score of 6-2, 6-0. Mechali and Anderson both swept their opponents 6-0, 6-0.
Daniel Sanchez rounded out the sweep for the Hawks with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No.6 singles.

Women's
QU jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play on the women's side as well.
Makaela Hampton and
Nicole Lao won in convincing fashion 6-1.
Anna Konczak and
Marta Caballero Garcia earned a 6-2 victory at No.2 doubles, while
Rita Kanaeva and
Haley Milazzo grinded out a 6-3 win at the No.3 spot.
Hampton cruised to a victory at No.1 singles, winning 6-4, 6-1.
Caballero Garcia and Konczak both earned victories by scores of 6-3, 6-4 and 6-3, 6-2, respectively.Â
The Trailblazers pulled out three points from matches that all went to three sets, making the final score 6-3 in QU's favor.
