Hawks Handed First GLVC Loss

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Quincy Hawks baseball team ended their three-game series with Drury University on Sunday (March 17). The Hawks lost their first conference game with a 14-2 defeat. 

Play by Play
Most of the action in Sunday's game came late. Starting pitcher Nick Stroud worked around runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Stroud struck out the next two batters to end the threat. 

Neither team could get much going offensively in the first four innings. The Panthers struck first in the 5th. Drury led off with back-to-back singles and a hit by pitch to load the bases. A bases clearing triple opened the game in DU's favor 3-0. 

The Panthers added another run in the inning with a RBI single to make the score 4-0.

 Quincy was able to cut Drury's lead in half in the top of the 6th. An RBI single by Michael Nielsen brought home Nolan Snyder and a double in the gap by Lance Logsdon made the score 4-2 going to the bottom of the 6th. 

Drury broke the game wide open with ten runs on six hits and a QU error in the bottom half of the 6th. The score moved to the final tally of 14-2. Quincy did not add any runs in the final at bat in the 7th inning.
