CHICAGO, Ill. – The Quincy University men's basketball team faced the Ramblers of Loyola Chicago on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 7) in exhibition action. Quincy fell by the score of 90-59 as
Tanner Stuckman and
Jonah Smith combined for 34 points in the loss.
How It Happened
The Division I opponent opened the game with a 12-0 run in the first two minutes to jump ahead of the Hawks. With under ten minutes left in the first half,
Jonah Smith was able to cut the Ramblers lead to eight points with a deep three-pointer. QU trailed 22-14.
After the lead had been cut by Quincy, Loyola went on another 12-0 run to extend the lead to 34-14. The Hawks scored six straight points to quickly cut it to a 34-20 game, but the Ramblers powered ahead before halftime.
Loyola Chicago ended the first half on a 12-5 run as QU trailed at halftime 46-25.
The Ramblers remained in control throughout the second half. QU's leading scorer,
Tanner Stuckman saw double teams all day, but still managed to lead the Hawks with 19 points. Stuckman was once again efficient from the floor by posting 6-12 shooting from the field, 3-4 from three-point distance, and also made four out of five free throw attempts.
Quincy fell in Saturday's exhibition by the score of 90-59.
