Women's Volleyball Wins In Four Sets Over Lindenwood

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Quincy University women's volleyball team picked up a road victory over Lindenwood 25-17, 21-25, 25-19, 25-23 on Saturday evening (Nov. 9). 

1st Set

After the Hawks opened up with a kill by Emily Rehagen, the Lions scored three in a row to go ahead 3-1 early. 

Sarah Brown slammed two straight kills to quickly tie things up at three apiece. 

Lindenwood went ahead 6-3 after scoring the next three points, but the Hawks answered right back. QU scored seven straight points to regain the lead 10-6, and Lindenwood called timeout. 

After the timeout, the Hawks continued to roll. Sara Rathbun snuck in a kill that increased Quincy's lead to 14-7. 

From this point on Quincy remained in control. The visitors won the opening set 25-17. 

2nd Set
Lindenwood came right back at QU in set two. The Lions nearly hit .300 and collected seventeen kills after dropping the first set. 

Both teams were tied 4-4 after the first eight points. Stephanie Mizeur slammed a kill to tie the score. 

Emily Rehagen gave QU a 9-8 lead after collecting a kill, but Lindenwood ended the set strong. 

Quincy looked in control with a 19-15 lead, but the Lions scored the last ten of twelve points to come back and take the second set 25-21. The two teams went into the third set tied 1-1. 

3rd Set
Lindenwood opened the third set with the first two points. Quincy came right back with three points in a row to take the lead 3-2. 

Two straight attack errors by QU allowed the Lions to move back in front 4-3. 

The entire third set was a struggle for both teams to find separation. Lindenwood was able to gain a three point lead following three points in a row that made the score 16-13 LU. 

Both teams exchanged points to make the score 17-14 before the difference in the set came from QU. The Hawks ripped off nine straight to regain the lead late in the set, 23-17. During the run, Alaina Rothermich and Lauren Worl contributed kills. 

QU rode the momentum wave and won set three 25-19. 

4th Set
The Lions took an early 3-1 lead in the fourth set of the game. Quincy once again responded by scoring four points in a row to move in front 5-3. 

Quincy remained in the lead until LU tied things up at 12-12 nearly halfway through set four. Quincy went up 16-14 after a Sarah Blair service ace and a kill by Alaina Rothermich, but Lindenwood tied things back up at 16-16. 

The score stayed within two points until the final few scores of the game. The Hawks tallied the last three of four points after kills by Mizeur and Knoblauch to seal the win for the Hawks 25-23.
