FINDLAY, Ohio - The Quincy University men's basketball team competed with the University of Findlay in GLVC/G-Mac Crossover action on Saturday evening (Nov. 9). The Hawks drew even with the home team with seven minutes remaining, but the #17 Oilers pulled away for an 88-75 victory.
QU had four players score in double digits.
Tanner Stuckman was high-scorer, contributing 18 points. Redshirt freshman
Adam Moore added 15 points, nailing all five three-pointers he attempted.
How It Happened
The Oilers grabbed an early six-point lead to start the game. The Hawks responded when
Austin Downing found
Viktor Kovacevic for a corner three to cut the lead in half.
Aziz Fadika knocked down two free throws less than a minute later to bring the Hawks within one at 8-7.
Findlay slowly increased their lead after that. The home team built their largest lead of the game with 1:30 remaining in the first half. After splitting a pair of free throws, the Oilers led 46-30.
QU gained some momentum heading into the locker room.
Tanner Stuckman scored four points in the final 30 seconds to make the score 46-34 at halftime.
Quincy quickly cut the lead to single digits in the second half.
Aziz Fadika converted a three-point play on the opening possession of the second half to bring the Hawks within nine.
The visiting team made the score 52-46 when Downing threw one of his game-high seven assists to
Jonah Smith who dropped in a three.
The Hawks chipped away and pulled within four points with just over 10 minutes remaining.
Adam Moore drained back-to-back threes, making the score 63-59. The redshirt freshman from St. Charles, Missouri stayed hot, nailing two more threes in the next two minutes to keep QU in the game.
Quincy tied the game at 69-69 after
Tanner Stuckman hit a jumper with 6:56 left.
The Hawks were never able to take the lead, however, as the nationally-ranked Oilers pulled away for the 88-75 win.
