QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's basketball team faced MacMurray College in non-conference action on Thanksgiving Eve (Nov. 27).
Tanner Stuckman scored 25 points as QU won 87-54.
1st Half
Quincy jumped ahead of the Highlanders from the start of Wednesday night's game. The Hawks started off the game on a 15-0 run as Stuckman scored three out of the first seven shots.
MacMurray finally got on the board with a three-pointer with 15:23 left, and the Highlanders cut QU's lead to single digits five minutes later.
With 10:42 left, the visiting team pulled within nine points after a made jump shot brought the score to 17-8.
Charles Callier extended the Hawks lead to thirteen points after he drained a three with under five minutes left in the half, making the score 29-16. This basket was the start of a 7-0 run which allowed Quincy to build a 33-16 lead.
Before halftime,
Ryan Briscoe nailed a shot from beyond the arc with 1:09 left. This three-pointer gave QU their largest lead at the time at twenty points, 41-21.
The Highlanders ended the first half on a 4-0 run, but QU went into the locker room with a 41-25 lead.
2nd Half
Quincy kept the pressure on MacMurray in the second half.
Trent Champagne scooped in a fast break layup with 15:12 to go allowing the Hawks to take an eighteen-point lead.
The Hawks created 23 points off turnovers in the contest compared to MacMurray's eight. This allowed QU to remain in control for the remainder of the game.
QU's lead grew to twenty-two points after a thundering dunk from forward
Adam Moore. The Hawks lead moved to 62-40 with under ten to play.
As the game clock continued to wind down, the home Hawks outscored the Highlanders 25-14 to cruise to their third victory of the season.
Tanner Stuckman finished with 25 points while shooting 50% from the floor, and also went three of six on three-point attempts.
Adam Moore recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
