ROLLA, Mo. - The Quincy University women's soccer team traveled to Rolla on Sunday (Hawktober 20) to take on Missouri S&T in their 11
th GLVC match of the season. The Miners scored the only goal of the game in the 54
th minute, hanging on to defeat the Hawks 1-0.
1st Half
Quincy played in their defensive half for much of the opening half, as the Miners outshot the Hawks 9-3.Â

S&T put four shots on goal, but sophomore goalkeeper
Emilee Autry denied the Miners each time.

The Hawks best chances to score came in the 35
th and 40
th minutes.
Lauren Crane found daylight and let two shots rip during the five-minute span, but both were brought in by S&T goalkeeper Kristin Steins.

Both teams remained scoreless heading into the half.
2nd Half
S&T was the first to put pressure on in the second half. The Miners earned a throw-in and Chayse Richardson sent a flip-throw into the box in the 54
th minute. The throw connected with the head of Madeline Goeke and the ball found the back of the net to put the home team up 1-0.
The Hawks looked to respond quickly following the goal. Senior
Baylee Smith sent in a shot five minutes later, but it was saved by Steins.
The two teams combined for just seven shots the rest of the way.
Quincy's final chance came in the 81
st minute when Smith got off two more shots. One missed just left and the other was scooped up by Steins.
QU could not get anything going in the final nine minutes as S&T held on for the 1-0 win.
