1st Quarter

Avery Wilson connected on his first collegiate extra-point to give QU the 7-0 lead.
The fast start continued on the Bearcats opening drive. After a first down rush, SBU connected on a 62-yard pass on second down. The long connection put the Bearcats inside QU's 10-yard line.
On first and goal, Southwest Baptist scampered in for a 10-yard score to tie the game at 7-7 with 12:42 left in the first quarter.
The Hawk offense got a first down on their next drive, but three plays later they were forced to punt.
In the next SBU possession, the Bearcats methodically worked a 14-play drive that was kept alive after a fourth down conversion near midfield. The drive was ended by a 31-yard touchdown run which gave Southwest Baptist a 14-7 lead with about six minutes left in the first.
Quincy looked to have an answer after SBU took over the lead. A 26-yard rush on second down and ten got the Hawks in Bearcat territory. A penalty on SBU brought the Hawks close to the red zone.
Rund connected with
Beau Kaffka for 16 yards to get QU inside the five-yard line. A costly turnover took the wind out of the sails of the Hawks as QU fumbled on the goal line after trying to extend the ball into the end zone. SBU recovered in their own end zone for a touchback.
2nd Quarter
The Hawks held firm on defense and forced SBU to punt following the turnover. Offensively, QU tried to get going again, but were faced with a fourth down and two from their own 33-yard line. The Hawks decided to punt after calling a timeout which gave possession back to the home team.
Quincy's defense was able to stop the Bearcats on third down to bring up a fourth down and six yards. SBU brought out the punting unit, but had a trick up their sleeve as they used a fake punt. The Bearcats picked up the first down and more with a 20-yard rush.
After the conversion, SBU connected on a 25-yard pass that put the ball on QU's ten-yard line. Two plays later, the Bearcats took a 21-7 lead with 7:44 left in the first half.
Southwest Baptist added a field goal after another Hawk drive stalled. SBU led 24-7 with 5:17 left in the first half.

Paul Sullivan from
Andrew Rund. There was 2:14 remaining in the half as QU trailed 24-14.
On the next SBU drive, the Quincy defense made a play. On the seventh play of the Bearcat drive,
Nathaniel Reese stepped in front of a pass with 1:48 left before halftime. It was Reese's third interception of 2019.
The Hawks offense made the most of the turnover with a 46-yard completion from Rund to Stamp followed by a five-yard touchdown run by
Oscee Calhoun.
Quincy turned the 24-7 deficit to just a three point game going into the locker room at halftime, trailing 24-21.

QU's offense took their momentum from the end of the first half and carried it into the second half. The Hawks drove down the field in nine plays and found the end zone.
Andrew Rund found
Gabriel Bryant on an 18-yard passing touchdown that tied the score at 27-27. Redshirt freshman
Avery Wilson converted the point after to give QU a slim 28-27 lead.
The Hawks defense made a stand on SBU's next drive with a quick three-and-out keeping the momentum on QU's side.
Andrew Rund continued to march the Hawks down the field in the third quarter. The senior quarterback found
La'Darius Burrows down the sideline for a 39-yard touchdown connection. This touchdown strike allowed the Hawks to take a 35-27 lead with under a minute left in the third quarter.
4th Quarter
The Hawks defense came up in big moments in the second half. On SBU's drive following the 39-yard touchdown by Burrows, the Bearcats looked to get into QU territory.
Sophomore linebacker
Marvion Harris intercepted a pass following a QU timeout on fourth down and one. This kept all the momentum on the Hawks side, and allowed the offense to come onto the field with an eight-point lead in the fourth quarter.
Andrew Rund rode the momentum wave and connected with his tight end
Beau Kaffka down the middle of the field for a 36-yard gain. The very next play, Quincy got into the end zone.
Andrew Rund ran it in himself from nine yards out for his fourth total touchdown of the game. QU led 42-27 after scoring 21 unanswered points.
The Hawks continued to smother the Bearcats on defense and forced them to punt on their next drive once again. Quincy's offense was unable to take advantage and also had to punt when faced with a fourth down and two yards near midfield.
Southwest Baptist made things interesting by going on a 91-yard drive. The drive was started with a 55-yard rush that put SBU in Quincy's defensive territory. The fourth quarter scoring drive made the score 42-34 QU with 5:48 left to play.
Quincy looked to run down the clock in their next offensive possession with an eight-point lead. The Hawks went down the field for about twenty yards when the Bearcats forced a fumble and recovered it. SBU took over near midfield with under three minutes to play.
The Hawk defense was up to the challenge and made a game-changing play on SBU's first play of the drive. Linebacker
Sam Mock picked off a Bearcat pass in the middle of the field and gave Quincy the ball back in a crucial part of the game. It was Mock's first interception of the season.
Rund and the offense looked to put the metaphorical nail in SBU's coffin, and they did just that. The Hawks drove five plays including a costly face mask penalty on the Bearcats to put QU near the goal line.
Oscee Calhoun ran into the end zone from four yards out for his second score of the game.
Quincy held the 48-34 lead after a missed extra point and less than a minute left in the game.
