ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Quincy University women's basketball team was downed 91-39 by Lewis University on Saturday. Quincy was held under double digit points in three out of the four quarters.
Play by Play
1st Half
At the start, both teams exchanged a pair of baskets.
Maddie Spagnola and
Michaela Gronewold each scored to draw an early 4-4 tie.
Spagnola knocked in a 3-pointer shortly after to give the Hawks an early 7-6 lead with seven minutes to play in the first.
The Flyers ended the first quarter on a tear. Lewis made a 20-2 run in the remaining seven minutes of the quarter to help build a 26-9 lead going into the second.
The Hawks were unable to close the gap in quarter number two. Lewis outscored QU 21-14 in the quarter and held a 47-23 lead going into halftime.
2nd Half
The Hawks' offense was struggled to gain any momentum in the second half. QU was held to just 2-18 shooting in the third quarter
Lewis pulled away by ending the third quarter on a 14-4 run and took a 68-30 lead into the final quarter.
Quincy's offensive struggles continued as the Hawks were unable to gain any traction in the fourth. Lewis won 91-39.
