INDIANAPOLIS, In. - The Quincy University men's basketball team began the 2019 year with a GLVC matchup against the Indianapolis Greyhounds. The Hawks fell 94-67.
Play by Play
1st Half
Both teams came out the opening tip firing on all cylinders. The Hawks used the inside presence of
Aziz Fadika and jump shooting of
Demetrius Houston to lead the attack.
Matching the offensive output of the Hawks, the Greyhounds three-point shooting kept the game neck and neck.
Prior to the 12 minute media timeout,
Paulo Camilo tied the game at 16-16.
Robert DeVries gave the Hawks an 18-16 lead following his steal at the 11:46 mark.
In the first 10 minutes of action, the Greyhounds committed seven turnovers compared to just one for QU.
The Hawks extended their lead to 26-22 with seven minutes to play in the first half following another
Paulo Camilo score.
Indianapolis responded with a 14-0 run to take a 36-26 lead with 4:18 to play in the half.
The Greyhounds end the half on a 23-3 run to take a 45-29 lead into halftime.
2nd Half
Indianapolis began the second half as the finished the first, forcing two quick Hawk turnovers and outscored QU 12-2 in the first three minutes of the second half.
After the first media timeout of the second half, the Hawks trailed 60-36. Out of the break, the Greyhounds extended their lead to 63-36.
Robert DeVries drained a three-pointer to cut the lead to 63-39 with 15:31 to play.
Trailing 69-40, the Hawks went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 69-47.
The Hawks continued to battle but couldn't cut the Greyhounds lead. QU fell 94-67 as the Greyhounds made 11 three-pointers and shot 57% from the field.
