QUINCY, Ill. - A second half comeback by the Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) Tritons thwarted a second straight GLVC win for the Quincy Hawks. The Tritons defeated Quincy 83-74 Saturday afternoon (Jan. 19).
Play by Play
1st Half
Following a three-pointer by UMSL on their opening possession, the Hawks scored 10 straight points to take a 10-3 lead.
Aziz Fadika established himself in the first half, scoring eight of the Hawks first 15 points. QU held a 15-11 lead with 14:22 remaining in the first half.
The Hawks led 24-16 midway through the first half after a fast break layup and a free throw by sophomore
Ryan Briscoe.
QU continued to maintain its hold on the first half extending its lead to 11 with 6:43 remaining.
Demetrius Houston put the Hawks ahead by 13 with 1:44 remaining in the first half with a deep three-pointer.
The Hawks took a 10 point lead into the half.
Aziz Fadika finished with 14 points in the half to lead the Hawks.
2nd Half
Fadika picked up right were he left off in the first half. Fadika scored the Hawks first basket to make the score 46-34.
The Tritons went on an 11-0 run to cut the Hawks lead to one with 15:52 to play.
Jah-Kobe Womack ended the Tritons run with a three-pointer as the Hawks led 49-45.
QU's lead sat at eight with 11:26 to play.
A 10-0 run by the Tritons over the next four minutes gave UMSL a 60-58 lead.
QU scored three straight points to retake the lead 61-60 with 5:39 remaining.
Trailing by one, the Tritons scored the next seven points to grab a 67-61 lead with 4:18 to play.
The Hawks continued to fight over the final four minutes but could not overcome the deficit and fell to the Tritons by nine.
