EVANSVILLE, In. - The Screaming Eagles of Southern Indiana defeated the Quincy Hawks men's basketball team 78-56 on Saturday (Jan. 12). The Hawks are currently on a four-game losing skid.
Play by Play
1st Half
Aziz Fadika scored the Hawks first four points as QU held a 4-3 lead through the first two minutes of the game.
Southern Indiana's leading scorer, Alex Stein, scored 10 straight points for the Screaming Eagles. Southern Indiana used Stein's hot shooting to take a 12-4 lead with 16:20 to play in the first half.
Trailing 16-9 with 14:29 to play in the half,
Tanner Stuckman drained a three-pointer to cut the lead to 16-12.
A 6-0 run by Southern Indiana pushed the lead to 10 points with 11:57 remaining in the first half.
The Hawks trailed by nine before a 5-0 run by QU cut the deficit to 33-29 with 3:11 remaining in the half.
Southern Indiana ended the half on a 5-0 run and took a 37-29 into the locker room.
2nd Half
The Screaming Eagles pulled away in the first three minutes of the second half.
A 10-0 run by Southern Indiana pushed the lead 47-29.
A tremendous shooting performance by the Screaming Eagles pushed the lead to 28 with 7:49 to play in the game.
The Hawks were unable to overcome the deficit and fell to the Screaming Eagles 78-56.
Southern Indiana shot 51.7% from the field and outscored the Hawks 32-10 in the paint. The Hawks committed 22 turnovers in the loss.
Demetrius Houston has scored at least 10 points in all but two games this season for QU.
