QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's volleyball team opened GLVC play with a tough loss to the University of Indianapolis. The Hawks came from two sets down to force a decisive fifth set, but fell 3-2.
Play by Play
Both teams battled in the first set, but neither team could pull away. The lead never exceeded more than three points for either team. Quincy only recorded 10 kills compared to 21 by the Greyhounds, but QU forced nine attack errors to keep the set close. The Hawks held a 24-22 lead before Indianapolis scored three straight to go ahead. 
Taylor King spiked a kill to tie it at 25, but the Greyhounds scored the next two points to take the set. 
In set two, Indianapolis never trailed. The Greyhounds collected 18 kills on 44 attempts. Quincy had just eight kills in the set. 
Down two sets, the Hawks looked to keep the game alive. In a close 17-15 game, Quincy rattled off three straight points started by a kill by 
Taylor McMonagle. The three point burst gave Quincy a more comfortable 20-15 lead. QU would take the set 25-19. 
The Greyhounds went ahead 5-1 early in the fourth set. Quincy answered back with four in a row to tie the game at five. The Hawks went ahead after another four point run and brought the score to 11-8. Indianapolis would battle back to tie the game at 14, but Quincy ended the set by scoring four of the final five points to win 25-21.
In the decisive fifth set, both teams were tied at 4-4. Indianapolis jumped ahead 8-4 in four straight and did not look back. The Hawks were unable to complete the comeback as they dropped the last set 15-9.
