Goals by Foley and Crane Lead Hawks to 2-0 Win

Quincy, Ill. - The Quincy University women's soccer program collected a 2-0 win over the University of Wisconsin Parkside on Friday (Sep. 7).  Two first half goals gave the Hawks the edge in the victory.

Play by Play

The Hawks hit the ground running against the Rangers.  Senior Cassidy Foley drove an early shot on goal in just the third minute of play but was turned away by the Rangers goalkeeper.

Quincy's offensive pressure paid off in the 13th minute.  Foley again tested her luck but was turned away for a second time.  Wisconsin Parkside's goalie was unable to maintain possession of the ball and the rebound ended up at the feet of freshman Lauren Crane.

Crane buried her shot in the back of the net for her first goal of her career.

Cassidy Foley continued to push the envelope on the offensive end and finally found her mark.

In the 19th minute, Foley launched a missile from 25 yards out to give the Hawks a two goal lead.

The Hawks were relentless on offense for the remainder of the first half.

QU nearly added a third goal in the 38th minute.  Junior Alex Severino drilled a shot off the crossbar that would have given the Hawks a 3-0 lead just before half.

Not to be outdone, Hawks goalkeeper Emilee Autry kept the lead 2-0 by making three saves in the first half.

The defense for QU settled into its comfort zone and kept the Rangers at bay.  Wisconsin Parkside managed four shots on goal in the second half but could not best Autry.

The score held firm at 2-0 as the Hawks picked up their second win of the season.
