INDIANAPOLIS, IN. - The Quincy University men's soccer team fell to the University of Indianapolis 2-1 on Sunday afternoon (September 30). The Hawks scored early, but they were unable to breakthrough in the second half.
Play by Play
1st Half
Quincy went on the attack early. The Hawks registered three shots on goal in the first 14 minutes. The first of those shots found the back of the net.
In Friday's game at Bellarmine,
Aubrey Reis saw his five-game goal streak ended. But the redshirt sophomore would not be denied on Sunday.
Reis found the back of the net in the 9th minute for his 12th goal of the season.
The Hawks continued the offensive intensity by recording two more shots on goal in the 11th and 13th minute. Both shots were saved by the Greyhounds goalkeeper.
In the 22nd minute, Indianapolis tied the game. The Greyhounds' Josh Mahon netted his fourth of the season to equalize.
After the goal, both teams recorded just two shots until just before the half. In the 44th minute, the Greyhounds went ahead with a goal by Jack Berger.
Indianapolis went into halftime leading 2-1.
2nd Half
The second half was a defensive battle.
Both teams recorded only five shots in the final 45 minutes. Quincy was limited to just one.
The lone shot in the second half came from the foot of
Cooper Reis. In the 81st minute, Reis' shot went high to keep the score 2-1.
QU could not create scoring chances late as they fell 2-1.
