QUINCY, IL. – The Quincy University men's soccer team failed to score a goal for the first time in 2018. The Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles remained unbeaten in the GLVC with a 2-0 victory over the Hawks on Friday night (Oct. 5).

Quincy looked to apply the pressure early. The Hawks put up four shots in the first 15 minutes while not allowing a shot by USI. None of Quincy's four early shots were on goal.
The Hawks offense put three more shots up between the 20th and 23rd minutes.
Kyle Fraser turned in a pair of shots, but both were wide of the net. In the 23rd minute,
Eddie Plesha put a header shot on goal but was turned away.
The Screaming Eagles had a stroke of luck in the 27th minute. After a corner from USI, a Quincy defender attempted to clear the ball from the box. The clearing attempt went the wrong direction and snuck past the goal line before another defender could clear it.
Quincy managed to put three more shots up before halftime, but none of them were the equalizer.
USI led 1-0 going into the break.
To start the second half, Quincy had two early looks at goal.
Kingsford Adjei sent a shot on goal in the 47th minute but was turned away.
USI did not get a shot off until after 20 minutes had passed in the second period.
The Screaming Eagles scored again in the 73rd minute. USI's Sean Rickey scored his 9th goal of the season on a shot from 15 yards out that snuck in the left side of the net.
The Hawks were only able to manage one shot in the final 15 minutes of play.
Kingsford Adjei had a great chance in the 86th minute, but the Southern Indiana keeper swooped in for the save.
Quincy fell 2-0.
