LOUISVILLE, KY. - The Quincy University men's soccer team lost to Bellarmine 3-2 on Friday evening (September 28). The Knights scored two goals after the 80th minute to secure the win.
Play by Play
1st Half
Bellarmine started things off with two shots in the first five minutes. The first shot went wide and the second was blocked by the Quincy defense.Â
Quincy answered by getting on the board. In the 9th minute, senior
Kyle Fraser struck a laser from 25 yards out that found the back of the net. It was Fraser's second on the year.Â
Less than ten minutes later, Bellarmine scored the equalizer. In the 16th minute, BU played a ball that was crossed into the box. Micah Linscott was credited with the goal off of the cross to make the score 1-1.Â
Both teams remained scoreless until halftime. Quincy had two scoring chances right before half. Both
Kingsford Adjei and
Cooper Reis challenged the Bellarmine keeper but were unable to find the back of the net.
2nd Half
The first 15 minutes of the second half were quiet. Quincy broke the silence in the 60th minute.Â
Freshman
Kingsford Adjei found the back of the net when he played a cross sent in by
Cole Hayes. Adjei's shot went in to give Quincy the 2-1 lead. It was Adjei's third goal of 2018.Â
Quincy looked to add more in the 72nd minute. The Hawks sent three shots, but two of them were blocked. Max Chretien's shot in the 75th minute was saved.Â
In the 82nd minute, Bellarmine was able to tie the game at 2-2. The Knights scored on a header shot that came off a corner kick.Â
The Hawks were unable to cash in on two late corner kicks. Bellarmine took advantage in the 87th minute. The Knights scored once again on a header played in off a corner kick to give Bellarmine a 3-2 lead.Â
Quincy was unable to answer and Bellarmine won the game 3-2.
