KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Quincy University women's soccer team was bested by two second-half goals by the Rockhurst Hawks. QU fell to Rockhurst 3-1 Friday evening (Sep. 14).
Play by Play
Rockhurst opened play with a pair of corner kicks in the first two minutes of play. QU's defense held firm and kept the score knotted 0-0.
Senior
Abby Pulliam gave QU a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute. Pulliam drilled a shot from 12-yards out into the back right corner of the goal.
QU's lead lasted 15 minutes as Rockhurst tied the score at 1-1 in the 38th minute. A blast from 25-yards out tied the score and the teams went into the half tied at 1-1.
Rockhurst took their first lead of the game in the 57th minute of play. A shot from 12-yards out found its mark to give Rockhurst a 2-1 lead.
A minute later, Rockhurst added another goal from four yards to extend its lead to 3-1.
Quincy tried to cut into the lead in the 67th minute.
Cassidy Foley and
Baylee Smith both put shots on goal but were turned away by the Rockhurst goalkeeper.
QU was unable to cut into the lead and fell to Rockhurst 3-1.
Rockhurst placed eight shots on goal compared to just five for QU.
