QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's volleyball team lost to Rockhurst 25-23, 19-25, 17-25, 13-25 in their home opener on Tuesday night.

QU fell behind early in the first set. Rockhurst jumped out to a 5-1 lead, but Quincy bounced back and cut the lead to 6-5. QU turned the tables when Rockhurst held a 13-10 lead. Quincy scored four straight to take the lead 14-13. 

The remainder of the first set was played close. Neither team could pull away, and the score was tied at 23. Quincy scored the next two points on a kill by Stephanie Mizeur and an attack error by RU. The Hawks went up 1-0.

Rockhurst again took an early lead by going up 3-0 in the second set. Quincy answered back and made it a one-point 4-3 lead for RU. 

Rockhurst led 10-8 when Quincy made a run. QU rattled off four straight to pull ahead 11-10. Rockhurst then responded with three in a row. Quincy scored the next point which made the score 13-12. The turning point was when RU scored five straight to pull ahead 18-12. QU was unable to respond and Rockhurst took set two.

In set three, Rockhurst went ahead 8-2 early and never looked back. Quincy fell in set three 25-17. 

In the fourth set, Quincy ran out of steam. QU scored the first three points of the set, but Rockhurst answered with 12 straight points. QU was unable to recover from the nine point swing as they fell 25-13 in the final set.
