Indianapolis, IN – The Quincy women's volleyball team came back from two sets down to defeat Wisconsin-Parkside 3-2 on Friday morning. In game two of the day, the Hawks fell to #12 Wheeling-Jesuit University 12-25, 13-25, 26-24, 25-16, and 10-15.

Game 1
The Hawks started well by taking an early 6-1 lead. Parkside answered back with five straight points to tie the set at six. Quincy managed a 23-18 lead late in the set, but Parkside roared back with six straight points to go ahead 24-23. The Rangers held the momentum and took set one 29-27.
Set two was also closely battled. Quincy jumped ahead 4-1, but the Rangers came back with five straight to go ahead 6-4. Parkside closed the game with three consecutive points to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
With their backs against the wall, the Hawks responded. The only time Quincy trailed was after Parkside took an early 2-0 lead. The Hawks charged ahead and expanded their lead to 23-13. The Hawks would take set three 25-16.
The fourth set was pivotal for QU. Both teams traded points back and forth as the lead never extended over four points. The key point came when Quincy held an 18-17 lead. The Rangers rattled off four straight to go up 21-18, but the Hawks did not panic and scored three straight to tie the game at 22-22.
With the score now tied at 27-27, Quincy sealed the match as

Taylor McMonagle blocked an attack by Parkside. McMonagle finished it off with a kill.
In the final set, Quincy trailed 4-3 before making a five point run to go ahead 8-4. The Hawks held on for the 15-7 win to cap off the comeback.
Game 2
The Hawks got off to a slow start in their second game of the day and dropped the first two sets.
Quincy battled back in set three to stay alive. QU led 11-6 before the Cardinals went on a run where they scored seven out of eight to go ahead 13-12. With the score tied 24-24, the Hawks won with consecutive points to force a fourth set.
The Hawks cruised in the fourth set. QU built a 23-13 lead before sending the game to a decisive fifth set with a 25-16 win.
In the final set, the score was tied 5-5 when Wheeling scored the next eight of nine points. The Hawks tried to battle back and scored the next four of five points to make the score 14-10. The run proved too little too late as Wheeling held on for the win, and the Hawks dropped their first match of the season.
