QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University Hawks softball team dropped a pair of games to the #25 McKendree Bearcats Friday (Mar. 30).  The Hawks fell 3-0 and 7-2 to the Bearcats.  

Play by Play:

Game 1

The Hawks and the Bearcats both were held in check through the first two innings and were tied at 0-0.   In the bottom of the third, the Bearcats took the lead.  McKendree loaded the bases with one out.  A Bearcat single plated a pair of runs and McKendree took a 2-0 lead over the Hawks.  

QU put a pair of runners on base with two outs in the top of the fourth but couldn't push a run across.    

Both offenses were unable to score until the bottom of the sixth.  

The Bearcats scored another run to extend their lead to 3-0.  

The Hawks were unable to score in the top of the seventh and lost the first game of the doubleheader 3-0.  

Game 2

A four-run bottom of the third gave the Bearcats a 4-0 lead over the Hawks 

The Hawks cut the lead in half in the top of the fifth inning.  Remi Ferguson singled and advanced to third on a Dana Walsh double. 

Raigen Schwartz brought home Ferguson on an RBI groundout and Walsh scored on a Courtney Kernich single.  

The Bearcats plated an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth to push their lead to 5-2.  

QU placed a pair of runners on first and second with one out but were unable to score.  

McKendree scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to extend the lead to 7-2.  

The Hawks fell in the second game 7-2.
