QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's volleyball team won in straight sets over St. Xavier Friday night (Mar. 16).  The Hawks took the match with scores of 25-16, 25-22, 25-20.  The Hawks committed just 14 attack errors in the match en route to their 11th win of the season.  

Play by Play:

The Hawks were in total control early, scoring seven of the match's first nine points.  St. Xavier cut the lead to 12-9 before an 8-4 Hawks run extended the lead to 20-13.  QU remained in control to take the opening set 25-16.  QU tallied 17 kills in the opening set to take the early momentum.  

QU trailed for most of the early part of the second set.  The Hawks were able to take the lead at 13-13 after an attack error by St. Xavier.  The Hawks again fell behind late in the set, trailing 21-19.  The Hawks tied the set at 22-22 and scored the final four points of the set to take a 2-0 lead over St. Xavier. 

The Hawks grabbed an 8-3 lead in the third set, a lead which they held for the rest of the match.  QU would win the third set 25-20, trailing just once in the third set.  The Hawks took advantage of nine attack errors by St. Xavier in the third set.
