MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Quincy University women's basketball team dropped a non-conference matchup to Northwest Missouri State on Wednesday (Dec. 19). The Hawks had 22 turnovers in the loss.

Play by Play
1st Half

The Hawks got off to a fast start. Quincy went on a 15-2 run to open the game. Five different players scored during the course of the run. 

Maddie Spagnola, Alexa Low, Michaela Gronewold, Aleksandra Petrovic, and Grace Schraufnagel all scored to build the lead. 

QU led 19-9 at the end of the first quarter. 

The Quincy offense was slowed in the second quarter. The Hawks were outscored 21-5 and trailed 30-24 at halftime.

2nd Half
Quincy brought the game back shortly after halftime. Maddie Spagnola made the score 36-34 half way through the third quarter when she made a pair of free throws.

At the end of the third quarter, Quincy only trailed 41-39. The Hawk defense didn't allow a basket by Northwest for the final two minutes of the third.  

In the fourth quarter, the Hawks were outscored 23-16. 

With seven minutes remaining, the Hawks tied the game 43-43 after two free throws by Michaela Gronewold. The Bearcats made a three pointer to ahead, but Spagnola answered right back with a 3-pointer of her own to tie the game at 46-46. 

With four minutes remaining Spagnola went 2-2 from the line to bring the Hawks within three 51-48. 

The Bearcats made a 10-0 run over the next two minutes to make the score 60-48. 

The Hawks were unable to overcome the deficit and fell 64-55.
