QUINCY, Ill. - The Hawks men's basketball team got back to its winning ways with an 83-50 win over MacMurray College Tuesday night (Dec. 18).
Demetrius Houston led the Hawks with 16 points and 13 QU players scored at least two points in the 23 point win.
Play by Play
1st Half
After a slow start to open the game, the Hawks offense came alive five minutes into the contest.
Trailing 6-5 with 15:09 to play in the first half,
Jah-Kobe Womack gave the Hawks a 7-6 lead which started a 6-0 Hawks run.
A strong inside presence by
Paulo Camilo and
Tanner Stuckman propelled QU to a 17-14 lead midway through the first half.
Five straight points by
Marcus Hinton gave QU a 22-14 advantage. The Hawks pushed their lead to 34-16 with 2:29 to play in the opening half.
QU finished the half by scoring the final five points on a three-pointer by
Robert Parker and a pair of free throws by
Demetrius Houston.
The Hawks took a 39-18 lead into the half over the Highlanders.
2nd Half
The first three minutes of the second half were quiet as both teams managed just a basket a piece and QU remained ahead by 21 points.
The Hawks remained in control for the entire second half. QU's lead never fell below 14 points in the half.
QU ended the game by scoring the final 12 points en route to a 33-point win.
Quincy shot over 54 percent from the field in the win.
