QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy Hawks men's basketball team fell to Rockhurst University 72-56 Saturday afternoon (Dec. 1). Rockhurst held QU to 34.5% shooting from the field.
Play by Play
1st Half
Ryan Briscoe got the Hawks off to a hot start, draining a three-pointer on the opening possession.
Following the three-pointer, Rockhurst went on a 18-4 run to take a 18-7 lead with 14:35 to play in the first half.
QU ended the run by scoring the next two baskets.
Tanner Stuckman and
Demetrius Houston both drained jumpers to cut the lead to 18-11.
An 8-0 run by Rockhurst pushed the lead back to 26-11 midway through the opening half.
Quincy battled back, cutting the lead to single digits with just over three minutes to play in the first half.
Aziz Fadika poured in a pair of free throws to make the score 30-22 in favor of Rockhurst.
Rockhurst extended the lead to 34-22 and took the 12 point lead into the half.
2nd Half
Rockhurst came out of the half white hot, taking a 45-24 lead five minutes into the second half.
The Rockhurst Hawks continued their offensive efficiency, increasing their lead to as many as 25 with 11:24 to play in the GLVC matchup.
QU was unable to find its offensive footing in the second half, shooting 37% from the floor and just 1-8 from behind the arc.
Quincy dropped the GLVC matchup, falling to Rockhurst 72-56.
QU had scored 90 or more points in the last two games before scoring just 56 in the loss.
