Hinton and Hawks Pick Up First GLVC Win

QUINCY, Ill. -  A 97 point effort by the Hawks gave QU its first GLVC win of the season Thursday night (Nov. 29).  The Hawks defeated William Jewell College 97-81 to move to 4-2 on the young season. 

Play by Play

1st Half

William Jewell began the game on an 8-0 run in the first two minutes of the game.  

The Hawks responded with an 8-0 run of their own to tie the game with 14:51 to play in the first half.  

William Jewell held a 13-10 lead after another minute of game action.  QU took their first lead of the game after a 7-0 run put QU on top 17-13.  

With six minutes to play in the first half, William Jewell cut the Hawks lead to 26-25.  

Ryan Briscoe answered with a deep three-pointer to give the Hawks a 29-25 lead.  

An 8-3 run by the Cardinals gave William Jewell a 33-32 lead with just under three minutes to play in the half.  

After surrendering the lead, QU scored the next eight points to take a 40-33 lead.  

Just before the half, Jah-Kobe Womack drilled a three pointer to give the Hawks a 43-35 lead.  

2nd Half

Marcus Hinton got the Hawks offense off on a good start with a layup to put the Hawks up by 10.  

The Hawks held a 12 point lead with 16:09 to play in the game.  

William Jewell scored the next five points to cut the Hawks lead to to 54-47.  

QU's offense was on full display in the win.  The Hawks shot of 54% from the field as QU held a 67-51 lead with 11:23 to play in the game.  

Quincy extended its lead to 19 with just over seven minutes remaining.  

The Hawks controlled the glass as QU out-rebounded William Jewell 53-32 in the win.  The Hawks defense forced the Cardinals to shoot just 36% from the field.  

Controlling the glass and forcing difficult looks allowed for the Hawks to secure the 16 point win.  

Four Hawks scored in double figures as Marcus Hinton and Demetrius Houston led the Hawks with 21 and 20 points respectively.  

Hinton turned in a double-double as he also collected 13 rebounds and dished out four assists.  

The Hawks defeated William Jewell 97-81.
