FAYETTE, Ia. - The Quincy University Hawks men's basketball team lost to Upper Iowa 104-92 Friday night (Nov. 16). Upper Iowa shot 51.7% from three-point range, making 15 three pointers in the 12 point win.
Play by Play
First Half
The offense was on full display from the early going. After an early basket by Upper Iowa,
Jah-Kobe Womack got the board with a three-pointer to give the Hawks a 3-2 lead.
Marcus Hinton scored the Hawks next five points and the Peacocks and Hawks were tied at 8-8.
The back an forth battle continued as the Hawks took a 25-23 lead midway through the first half.
Quincy held a 34-32 with 4:21 to play in the first half. An 8-0 Peacock run gave Upper Iowa a 40-34 lead with 2:03 remaining in the opening half.
The Peacocks took a 43-38 lead into halftime.
2nd Half
Upper Iowa opened the second half on a 5-0 run to to extend their lead to 10 points.
The Hawks scored the games next five points to bring the deficit back to five.
Upper Iowa held a four point lead with 13:21 to play after a free throw by
Demetrius Houston.
The Peacocks three-point shooting continued to keep the Hawks at bay as Upper Iowa connected on its next two three-pointers to hold a 64-56 lead.
QU's free throw shooting kept the Hawks in the game. The Hawks went 28-33 from the foul line as Upper Iowa led 74-65 with 9:42 to play in the game.
Marcus Hinton score four straight points including an emphatic dunk to bring the lead back to five.
The Peacocks extended their lead back to nine with 3:59 to play. An basket and a free throw by
Aziz Fadika made the score 90-84 in favor of Upper Iowa.
The Hawks could bring the lead no closer as Upper Iowa outscored QU 14-8 over the final three minutes to defeat the QU 104-92.
