Hawks Shut Out In Road Contest with Missouri-St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Quincy University was shut out for just the second time this season in a 2-0 loss to Missouri-St. Louis. Two second half goals by the Tritons were the difference in the game. 

Play By Play
Missouri-St. Louis came out of the gates aggressively. The Tritons had an early shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but Adam Whybrow made the save. 

The aggressive play by UMSL was evident on defense as well. Nick Harper was carded in just the 8th minute of play after a hard foul.

Quincy was held without a shot until the 19th minute. Kingsford Adjei put the first shot up for the Hawks, but it went wide. 

Less than five minutes later, Justin Armfield ripped a shot, but he too missed wide. 

The Hawks were able to put up six shots to the Tritons' five in the first half, but both teams went into the break tied 0-0. 

In the second half, UMSL put up two shots within the first three minutes, but one was blocked and the other sailed high. 

Quincy was given a team yellow card shortly after in the 48th minute. 

In the 54th minute, Missouri-St. Louis ended the scoreless tie. Nick Harper scored his first goal of the season to give his team the 1-0 lead. 

The Hawk offense was able to create two scoring chances to potentially tie the game. Kingsford Adjei had a shot miss wide, then Anthony Christante had his shot saved in the 65th minute. 

Less than a minute later, UMSL was awarded a penalty kick after a foul on Quincy. The Tritons buried it and went ahead 2-0. 

After the penalty kick goal by UMSL, the QU attack managed five shots in the final 25 minutes of play. Two of those five attempts were on goal, but both were saved by the Tritons' goalkeeper. The Hawks fell 2-0.

Quincy is currently in 7th place in the GLVC standings and will play the second-ranked team in the conference (UIS) in their final regular season game on Wednesday.
