INDIANAPOLIS, IN. – The Quincy University women's volleyball team won its opening match at the Midwest Regional Crossover Tournament. The Hawks defeated Purdue-Northwest in straight sets to open play.

The Hawks came out strong and built an early 8-4 lead. Quincy remained in the lead by leaning on strong play from the attack. The Hawks recorded 10 kills in their last 15 points to win set one 25-18.
Sarah Brown,
Taylor McMonagle,
Stephanie Mizeur,
Kaeley Mueller, and
Baylie Stephens all had kills in the first set.
In set two, the Hawks continued to look sharp. McMonagle recorded two early kills and
Kaeley Mueller added another to give QU a commanding 7-1 lead.
Quincy extended their lead to 17-7 after a five point run. The set was closed out on a kill from
Stephanie Mizeur. Hawks went ahead 2-0 by winning the second set 25-14.
The third set was played close early. Both teams were notched 3-3 after
Taylor McMonagle buried a kill.
The difference in the set came as the score was 16-14 favoring QU. The Hawks scored six straight points to roar ahead 22-14. In those six points,
Baylie Stephens and
Kaeley Mueller had two kills each to give Quincy the momentum.
The Hawks sealed the game with a 25-16 win to take the game in straight sets.
