QUINCY, Ill. -  The Quincy University men's basketball team fell to Maryville University 83-43 Saturday (Jan. 6) afternoon.  

The Hawks couldn't get in rhythm throughout the game as a tough Saints defense made it difficult for the Hawks to find the basket.  

Maryville was white hot to start the game, grabbing a 19-2 lead through the first eight and a half minutes of the first half.  

The Saints kept up their hot shooting and held a 48-21 lead at the end of the first half.  

The Hawks were unable to keep pace with the strong Saints attack and could not bring the lead any closer than 23. 

QU fell to the Saints 83-43 as Maryville shot over 53% from the field and 41% from behind the arc.  

Marsalis Johnson led the Hawks with 12 points and eight rebounds.  

Marcus Hinton also added eight points and five rebounds.  

The Hawks remain at home for their next GLVC matchup against the University of Illinois Springfield.  The Hawks battle the Prairie Stars next Saturday (Jan 13.) at 3:15 in Pepsi Arena.
