QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's basketball team fell to the University of Indianapolis 93-77 Thursday (Jan. 4) night. The Hawks were unable to overcome a late second-half run by the Greyhounds in the first GLVC contest of the new year.
The Hawks and the Greyhounds went back in forth through the first eight minutes of the first half. The Hawks trailed the Greyhounds 14-13 after a layup by De'Andre Alexander.
A 10-0 run by Indianapolis pushed the Greyhounds lead to 24-13. A layup by
Ryan Briscoe ended the Greyhounds run.
Indianapolis pushed the lead to 15 with 4:07 to play in the first half.
The Hawks ended the half on a 12-6 run and brought the Greyhounds lead to 36-27 as the teams headed to the locker room.
The Greyhounds began the second half on a 7-0 run and led the Hawks 43-27 with 18:30 to play in the second half.
QU responded with a 6-0 run of their own and brought the score to 43-33.
The Greyhounds lead remained at 10 with 14:01 remaining.
Indianapolis opened the lead up to 20 with 10:11 to play in the game.
The Hawks went on a 7-0 run to bring the score to 67-54.
With 5:59 to play the Greyhounds had extended the lead to 19.
Marcus Hinton scored the games next seven points and the Hawks used a 9-0 run to cut the lead to 79-69.
The Hawks could bring the lead no closer and fell to the Greyhounds 93-77.
Ryan Briscoe led the Hawks with 19 points on 7-11 shooting. Hawks leading scorer,
Demetrius Houston, added 18 points.
Marcus Hinton also scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
The Hawks fall to 4-9, 0-4 in the GLVC. The Hawks return to Pepsi Arena Saturday, January 6th, for their next matchup against Maryville.
