QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to Truman State 25-16, 25-19, 25-18.
The Hawks and the Bulldogs traded points early in the first set before the Bulldogs used a five point run to take a 10-6 lead. The Bulldogs used another six point lead while leading 13-11 to take a 19-11 lead late in the first set. The lead was too much to overcome and the Hawks fell in the first set.
QU took an early 8-5 lead after a four point run was started by a
Taylor McMonagle (Green Bay, WI./Denmark) kill. Truman retook the lead after a four point run of their own and took a 10-9 lead.
QU cut the Bulldog lead to 16-14 before another Truman five point run increased the lead to 21-14. The lead was again too much for the Hawks to overcome and Truman took the second set 25-19.
Truman again used a pair of four point runs to take control of the third set. QU trailed 20-10 before the Hawks cut the lead to 23-18. The Hawks took advantage of several Bulldog attack errors to trim the lead. Truman would relinquish the score no further and took the third set and the match with a 25-18 set win.
McMonagle totaled 10 kills in the match and also collected 15 digs.
QU falls to 1-10 on the year, 1-4 in the GLVC. The Hawks are back in action tomorrow (Sept. 23) against William Jewell.
