QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's volleyball team lost their opening GLVC match to the University of Wisconsin Parkside Thursday night.  

The Hawks fell behind quickly in the first set.  QU struggled offensively in the first set, committing seven attack errors and tallied just nine kills.  

These miscues were too much to overcome and the Hawks dropped the first set 25-21.   

QU fell behind early again and were forced to claw their way back into the second set.  The Hawks totaled 16 kills in the second set, including six by senior captain Bekah Raebel (Waterford, WI / Waterford Union).  

Unfortunately for the Hawks, they committed eight attack errors and had five service errors.  This allow for the Rangers to win the second set 25-23. 

The third set saw back and forth scoring between the Hawks and the Rangers.  Neither team lead by more than two points during the third set. 

The Hawks faced match point before Lauren Nadler (Charleston, IL/ Charleston) extended the match with a kill.  

QU had a chance to win the set and send the match to a fourth set after a kill by Raebel gave the Hawks a 27-26 lead.  Parkside used a two point swing to force another match point. 

A service error by Lexi Turek gave the Hawks a second chance and set the score at 28-28.  QU was unable to take advantage and fell in the third set 30-28.  

Raebel lead all players with 15 kills.  Sara Rathbun (Stanford, IL/ Olympia) totaled 28 assists and Marissa Gonzalez (San Antonio, TX / Reagan) tallied 28 digs.
