Webster's Career High Leads Hawks Past Bearcats

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's basketball team won its second straight game with a 79-70 win over Northwest Missouri State Saturday night (Dec. 16). 

The Hawks were led by senior Anika Webster's career-high 33 points.   

Webster went 11-17 from the field and knocked down four three-pointers in the win. 

Webster knocked down a three to start the game as the Hawks got out to a 3-0 lead. 

The Hawks jumped out to a 15-8 lead with six minutes to go in the first quarter. 

The Bearcats went on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 15-15. 

Northwest went on a 12-2 run to take a 19-17 lead headed into the second quarter.  

QU went on a 14-0 run to open the second quarter and took a 33-19 lead over the Bearcats. 

The Hawks outscored the Bearcats 23-10 in the second quarter and took a 40-29 lead into the half. 

Northwest Missouri went on a 15-6 run to open the second half over the first seven minutes of the third quarter. 

Led by Webster's four points in the final 2:18 of the third quarter, the Hawks scored the nine points of the third quarter to take a 55-44 lead headed into the fourth quarter. 

Webster scored the first five points in the fourth quarter and pushed the Hawks lead to 16 points. 

The Bearcats trimmed the lead to eight points with 4:31 remaining in the fourth quarter. 

Webster scored 14 points in the fourth quarter and the Hawks went 9-10 from the foul line to secure the nine-point win. 

Taylor Hickey also added 10 points for QU. 

QU improved to 3-6 on the year and returns to action Monday (Dec. 18) against Culver-Stockton at 5:15 in Pepsi Arena.
