QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's volleyball team dropped its fourth straight match with a 3-1 loss to Bellarmine Saturday (Nov. 4).
The Hawks and the Knights battled in QU's longest set of the season to open the match. With the Hawks facing set point at 24-22, QU rattled off three straight points to take a 25-24 lead. The Hawks could not finish the set and traded several points with the Knights.
With the score reading 29-29 Bekah Raebel (Waterford, WI / Waterford Union) and Alaina Rothermich (O'Fallon, MO / St. Dominic) tallied a pair of kills to give the Hawks a 31-29 set win.
The Knights responded by winning the second set 25-16 and tying the match 1-1.
QU fell behind 20-10 in the third set. The Hawks took the next seven points to trim the lead to 20-17. QU brought the lead to 21-19 but couldn't get any closer and lost the third set 25-21.
The Hawks and Knights were tied at 19-19 in the fourth set as QU tried to extend the match to a fifth set.
Bellarmine took six of the next nine points and secured a 25-22 win.
Raebel led the Hawks with 24 kills.
QU is now 7-20, 4-12 in the GLVC.
