QUINCY, Ill. -  The Quincy University men's basketball team fell to the University of Upper Iowa 81-59 Wednesday night (Nov. 15).  

The Peacocks scored the first basket of the game on a dunk by Mitchell Eighme.  Upper Iowa began the game on a 20-8 run as the Hawks struggled to crack the Peacock defense through the first 10 minutes of action. 

QU picked up the defensive intensity and held Upper Iowa to eight points over the next six minutes of play.  QU managed to trim the lead to eight with 4:34 remaining in the first half.  

The Peacocks outscored QU 14-6 for the remainder of the first half.  

Upper Iowa held a 42-28 lead heading into the locker rooms.  

The Hawks struggled from the field in the first half, shooting under 30%.   The Peacocks shot over 56% from the field and were 5-9 from behind the arc in the first half.  

Upper Iowa knocked down four three-pointers and went 6-8 from the foul line to continue its strong shooting performance. 

QU kept pace with the Peacocks but couldn't cut the lead to less than 14 in the second half.  

The Hawks went 5-12 from behind the arc after going just 3-14 from deep in the first half.  

Demetrius Houston led the Hawks with 16 points on 5-11 shooting, 2-5 from three-point range.  

Ryan Briscoe also scored in double figures, tallying 10 points.  

Briscoe knocked down a pair of three-pointers and is shooting over 50% from three-point range on the season.  

The Hawks fall to 0-3 on the season and will travel to Missouri Western Saturday, November 18th, for their next contest.
