QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's soccer team fell to the University of Illinois Springfield 3-0 Sunday afternoon (Oct. 22).
The Prairie Stars scored just 23 seconds into the game to take an early 1-0.
UIS scored a second time in the fifth minute of action off a rebound to Alex Zarco.
Zarco scored and the Prairie Stars grabbed a quick 2-0 lead over the Hawks.
The Prairie Stars added their third goal of the first half in the 24th minute as Zarco scored his second goal of the game to push the lead to 3-0.
The Hawks were never able to find their footing offensively and tallied just one shot on goal in the first 45 minutes of play.
UIS totaled 15 shots in the first half compared to just six by QU.
Physical play resulted in three yellow cards on the Hawks in the first half.
Despite recording 10 shots in the second half QU could not break the UIS defense. The Hawks also couldn't take advantage of 11 corner kicks compared to just four for the Prairie Stars.
QU could not recover from the three-goal deficit and fell to the UIS 3-0.
QU falls to 5-10, 4-9 in GLVC play.
The Hawks travel to William Jewell Wednesday (Oct. 25) for the final regular season contest of the season.
