QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's soccer team defeated William Jewell 1-0 in the final game of the 2017 season.
QU came into the game on a six game skid and looked to end their season on a high note.
The Hawks came out firing on offense, tallying seven shots in the first 27 minutes.
QU was able to finally find the back of the net when
Eddie Plesha (Normal, IL / Normal Community) found
Justin Armfield (Eureka, MO / Eureka) for his first goal of the season.
QU took their 1-0 lead into the half.
The Hawk defense kept the Cardinals at bay and allowed just 6 shots on goal throughout the game.
Nate Griffin (St. Louis, Mo./CBC) made all six saves, including the final two chances by the Cardinals in the 73rd and 74th minutes.
QU was able to control possession and keep the ball in the Cardinal half for a large portion of the remainder of the game.
The Hawks attempted 27 shots in the match with 11 of them being on goal.
QU finishes the season 6-10, 5-9 in the GLVC.
