QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to Rockhurst Friday night (Oct. 20) 25-22, 25-19, 25-22.
QU and Rockhurst battled throughout the entire first set. The largest lead for either team was two in the first set. QU tied the set at 21-21 and looked to grab the lead late in the opening set. Rockhurst scored the next two points to take a 23-21 lead.
Jessica Licurgo (Goodyear, AZ / Sandra Day O'Connor) tallied a kill to bring the score back to 23-22. Rockhurst took the final two points to win the first set 25-22
QU took an 11-8 lead in the second set before Rockhurst rallied to tie the score at 14-14. QU and Rockhurst traded points until the score read 19-19. Rockhurst took the final six points to win the set 25-19.
Another tight set saw QU and Rockhurst trade points for the majority of the third set. Rockhurst took the largest lead of the set at 23-19. QU cut the lead to 23-21. QU couldn't rally to extend the match to a fourth set and fell to Rockhurst 25-22.
Bekah Raebel (Waterford, WI / Waterford Union) lead the Hawks with 12 kills and Licurgo added 10 kills
QU falls to 6-16, 3-8 in the GLVC. QU takes on Drury tomorrow (Oct. 21) in their next GLVC contest.
