After 45 minutes of play, the Hawks and the Flyers remained tied at zero.

To begin the second half, Rief tallied three shots in the first four minutes but all three were saved by Jennifer Meyer.

The Hawks looked to score in the 82nd minute when Cassidy Foley (Quincy, IL / Quincy Notre Dame) tested Meyer for the 13th time but she again turned the Hawks away.

On the 14th shot on goal, Rief finally found the back of the net off a cross from Maddie Bauer (O'Fallon, MO / St. Dominic).  Rief took her shot from 15 yards out and put the Hawks up 1-0.
