QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's volleyball team went 1-1 on the final day of the Midwest Regional Crossover Saturday (Hawktober 14). The Hawks defeated Kentucky Wesleyan 3-0 in their first match of the day. The Hawks fell to Northwood University 3-0 in their final match of the day.
QU took control of the first match against Kentucky Wesleyan early on forcing several attack errors in the first set. The Hawks also had 13 kills in the first set including four by senior
Jessica Licurgo (Goodyear, AZ / Sandra Day O'Connor).
Bobbie Eastman (Fenton, MI / Fenton) and
Taylor McMonagle (Green Bay, WI / Denmark) combined for eight kills in the second set as the Hawks had a hitting percentage of .406, 15 kills on 32 attacks. QU also forced six hitting errors en route to a 25-19 set victory.
Another strong set for the Hawks lead to a 25-13 set win and gave the Hawks a 3-0 victory. The Hawks took the final seven points of the thrid set to claim the match win.
Bekah Raebel (Waterford, WI / Waterford Union) led the Hawks with 12 kills.
In the second match of the day the Hawks fell behind in the first set quickly. Northwood jumped out to an early 10-2 lead in the first set. The Hawks were never able to respond and fell in the first set 25-11.
QU responded in the second set and had the set tied at 9-9. Northwood scored eight of the next ten points to grab a 17-11 lead. QU was able to trim the lead to 22-19 but couldn't get any closer and fell 25-19.
The Hawks were forced to try and win the third set to try and extend the match and keep their three match winning streak alive. The Hawks took a 14-10 lead. The Timberwolves took five of the next six point to tied the score at 15-15.

QU and Northwood battled to an 18-18 tie. The Timberwolves took the next seven points to win the set 25-18 and the match 3-0.
Bobbie Eastman led the Hawks with seven kills.
The Hawks now sit at 6-15 on the season and have won three of their last four matches. QU returns home to face Rockhurst Friday (Hawktober 20) in Pepsi Arena at 7 P.M.
