QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's soccer team lost its third straight game with a 2-0 loss to the University of Indianapolis Friday night (Hawktober 13).
The Hawks were the victim of an unfortunate bounce in the 9th minute of play. With the Hawks trying to clear the ball out of the zone the ball struck
Conner Sendobry (St. Louis, MO./ Wisconsin-Green Bay) and bounced to the feet of James Jankins. Jankins took advantage, putting his shot into the lower right corner to put the Greyhounds up 1-0.
The Hawks tallied three shots after the goal by the Greyhounds. Only one shot was on goal, by
Kyle Fraser (Helston, U.K. / Helston Community Prep) in the 38th minute.
QU trailed 1-0 after the first half.
The Hawks turned up the offensive intensity in the second half. QU totaled 8 shots in the second half with four on goal. QU also had 10 corner kicks in the second half.
In the 81st minute the Greyhounds added to their lead on a header by Javier Steinwascher over
Nate Griffin (St. Louis, MO./ CBC) to put Indianapolis up 2-0.
The Hawks couldn't cut into the lead and fell to the Greyhounds 2-0.
QU falls to 5-7, 4-6 in the GLVC. QU will host Senior Day on Sunday (Hawktober 15) at Legends Stadium at 2:30 against Wisconsin-Parkside.
