Lady Hawks Fall To Drury In Second Half

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's soccer team outshot Drury, but the Panthers scored in the 74th minute to claim a 1-0 win at Legends Stadium on Sunday (Sept. 25) afternoon.

The Lady Hawks (2-4-2, 2-3-1 GLVC) had a 19-11 advantage in shots, including a 12-6 mark in the second half as they were able to control much of the play on the afternoon.

The Panthers (3-4-1, 1-4-1 GLVC) were able to get their goal at the 73:04 mark as Gabbe Millot's shot was initially stopped by junior keeper Megan Swanson (St. Charles, Mo./St. Dominic), but the ball slipped through and Rachel Kreuger was able to tap it in.

The Lady Hawks took five shots and three corner kicks after the goal in efforts to equalize, but could not get the necessary goal. QU had a corner kick with 20 seconds left, but a header by junior defender Bailey Greubel (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx Hall) struck the left post and kicked back into the box where it was finally cleared away.

Drury goalkeeper Tina Haberberger stopped eight shots on goal by the Lady Hawks for the shutout.

Sophomore forward Cassidy Foley (Quincy, Ill./Quincy Notre Dame) led Quincy with eight shots, including three on goal. Sophomore forward Abby Pulliam (St. Louis, Mo./Eureka) added four shots. Swanson had three saves in the game.

The Lady Hawks will return to action on Friday (Sept. 25) at 5 p.m. when they travel to No. 23 Rockhurst.
