What Went Down
--- The Hawks fell behind on the first shot of the game as Magnus Bertilsson freed Callum Southern in the box with a nice pass and the latter scooped a shot past QU keeper Nate Griffin (St. Louis, Mo./CBC) to give the visitors a quick 1-0 lead.

--- The Hawks, whose offensive style lends itself to quick strikes, equalized 10 minutes later. Junior reserve forward David Geerling (St. Louis, Mo./CBC/SLU) played a square ball to senior midfielder Taylor Reis (Quincy, Ill./Quincy Notre Dame), who bent a perfect shot around the keeper and inside the left post to tie the game at 1-1. It was Reis' third goal and the first assist for Geerling.

--- Quincy added on in the 40th minute as redshirt-freshman forward Justin Armfield (Eureka, Mo.) powered a perfect shot inside the back post. The ball came in on a cross from junior defender Michael Timmermann (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell) and was headed down by senior midfielder Tommy Koerper (St. Louis, Mo./Trinity Catholic). It was Armfield's first career goal and Timmermann and Koerper each had their first assists of the season.

--- The Hawks took their 2-1 lead into halftime and delivered the knockout punch in the 71st minute. Geerling, who looked bright in his 50 minutes on the field, was rewarded for a terrific run down the right side and struck from 21 yards into the back of the net for his first goal of the season.

--- Five of Bellarmine's six shots in the second half came after Quincy's final goal, but the Hawks kept the Knights off the board the rest of the way.

QU's Top Performers
--- Senior center back Robbie Tays (Edwardsville, Ill.) returned from injury on Sunday and played alongside true freshman center back Ben Mero (Quincy, Ill.). That duo, along with Timmermann and redshirt-freshman Anthony Christante (Fenton, Mo./Vianney), held the Knights to just four shots on goal. Griffin needed to make just three saves in the winning effort.

--- Reis tested Bellarmine keeper Zach Pogue five times in the game and had QU's equalizer in the 18th minute.

Stat of the Game
--- The Knights led in total shots, 13-12, and but the Hawks maintained a 10-4 lead in shots on goal.

Up Next
--- The Hawks welcome Missouri S&T to Legends Stadium next Friday (Sept. 23) at 7:30 p.m. in front of what will be a large Homecoming crowd.
